How it works today: abstracted wallets
Boundless abstracts wallets for you:
- You sign up and sign in with your email (and password or your current auth method).
- The platform holds your balance the XLM and other assets tied to your account. You don’t manage a seed phrase or connect an external wallet to use Boundless.
- When you earn from bounties, grants, hackathons, or crowdfunding, payouts go to your Boundless balance.
- You can withdraw or off-ramp from that balance when the product supports it (e.g., to a bank account or linked payout method).
So today: no wallet setup, no seed phrase, no separate app. Your account has a balance; the platform manages the underlying wallet for you.
Why abstracted wallets?
- Simplicity You can participate without any crypto or wallet experience.
- Safety You can’t lose a seed phrase you never had to write down.
- Speed Receiving payouts and using your balance in the app is straightforward.
Coming soon: passkey sign-in
Passkey support is planned for a future release. When it ships, you’ll be able to:
- Sign in with a passkey (e.g., fingerprint, Face ID, or security key) instead of or in addition to password.
- Approve sensitive actions with your passkey where we support it.
Until then, use the sign-in method provided in the app (e.g., email + password) and follow normal account security (don’t share your password, use a strong password, etc.).
Setting up your account and balance
See Set up your wallet for the steps to create your account and use your balance (adding funds, receiving payouts, withdrawing). You don’t need to “create a wallet” just sign up and use your Boundless account.
Security
Never share your login credentials (email/password or any recovery details) with anyone. Boundless support will never ask for your password or seed phrase.
- Use a strong, unique password for your Boundless account.
- If you use a recovery method (e.g., email), keep that account secure too.
