TL;DR: Before a campaign can go live, the community votes on whether it should launch. Any signed-in user gets one vote. If enough people vote and enough are in favor, the campaign launches and can start raising funds.

The launch vote

After a campaign is submitted and reviewed, it enters a voting stage. This is the community’s chance to decide whether it deserves to launch:
  • Any signed-in Boundless user can cast one vote, up or down, per campaign.
  • The vote must reach a quorum (a minimum number of votes) before the result counts.
  • Once quorum is met, the campaign passes if it clears the threshold: the share of votes in favor.
Typical defaults are a quorum of 10 votes and a 60% in-favor threshold, checked periodically. If the campaign passes, it launches on-chain and funding opens; if not, it doesn’t go live.

Who validates milestones

Voting decides whether a campaign launches. Once it’s live, each milestone is checked by a delegated reviewer: a trusted community member assigned to the campaign, not by an open vote. See Milestones and releases.

For creators

  • When creating campaigns, you can enable community validation and set the rules (who votes, threshold, etc.).
  • Use it to build trust: backers see that releases are gated on community approval.

For backers

  • You may be asked to vote or signal on milestone releases or other campaign decisions. Your participation helps keep campaigns accountable.
