# Set up your profile

> The short onboarding after sign-up: complete your profile and choose your role so you're ready to take part.

> **TL;DR:** After you sign up, Boundless walks you through two quick steps, completing your profile and choosing your role. It takes about two minutes, and finishing your profile earns you Credits.

## Step 1: Complete your profile

Add the basics that other people on the platform will see:

* **First and last name** (required)
* **Location** (required)
* **Bio** (optional), a short line about what you do
* **Profile photo** (optional), you can upload and crop an image

A complete profile, name, bio, and at least one skill, also earns you **+2 Credits**. See [Earn and spend Credits](/contributors/get-paid/credits).

## Step 2: Choose your role

Tell Boundless how you mainly plan to use the platform, then add your skills and goals. Your choice tailors what you see first, but it doesn't lock you in, you can do everything from one account.

| Role            | You mainly want to                                    |
| --------------- | ----------------------------------------------------- |
| **Contributor** | Find and win bounties, hackathons, and grants         |
| **Organizer**   | Post bounties, host hackathons, or run grant programs |
| **Judge**       | Score submissions for hackathons you're invited to    |
