# Reputation formula (reference)

> **TL;DR:** Your reputation is a score built from completed work and outcomes. It maps to tiers: Newcomer -> Contributor -> Established -> Expert -> Legend. Higher tiers unlock more opportunities.

## What you'll learn

* The five reputation tiers and their score ranges
* What typically increases or decreases your score
* That the exact formula may change; use this as a reference

## Reputation tiers (score ranges)

| Tier | Score range | Typical meaning |
| --------------- | ----------- | -------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Newcomer** | 0–499 | New or limited history. |
| **Contributor** | 500–1,999 | You've completed work and built a track record. |
| **Established** | 2,000–4,999 | Strong history; more valuable opportunities open up. |
| **Expert** | 5,000–9,999 | High trust; often preferred for large or sensitive work. |
| **Legend** | 10,000+ | Top tier; maximum visibility and opportunity. |

These ranges are used for display and gating (e.g., access to certain bounties or programs). The product may round or cap scores; check the app for your current tier.
