# Fees

> Platform fees on Boundless by pillar, who pays them, and where to see the exact amount.

> **TL;DR:** Boundless charges a small settlement fee when funds are released. Rates depend on the pillar, and the app always shows the exact fee before you confirm.

## Fees by pillar

| Pillar       | Fee                                             | Who pays  |
| ------------ | ----------------------------------------------- | --------- |
| Bounty       | 2.5% per settlement (minimum \$2)               | Organizer |
| Hackathon    | 1.5% of the prize pool                          | Organizer |
| Grant        | 1.5% per milestone release                      | Organizer |
| Crowdfunding | 2.5% per milestone release (free under \$1,000) | Creator   |

For bounties, hackathons, and grants the **organizer** pays the fee, taken from the program budget at settlement. For crowdfunding the **creator** pays, taken from each milestone payout, because there's no separate organizer.

<Note>These are launch (penetration) rates and may change. The app always shows the exact fee before you confirm.</Note>

## Other costs

* **Credits (bounties only)**: you spend [Credits](/concepts/credits) to apply to and submit to bounties. This is separate from the settlement fee above, and most people's Credits are covered by the monthly refill.
* **Network fees**: Stellar charges a tiny fee to move assets on-chain; it's a fraction of a cent.
* **Exchange fees**: if you convert USDC to local currency, the exchange sets its own fees. Boundless isn't involved in that step. See [Converting USDC to local currency](/reference/converting-usdc).

* In the Boundless app when you create a bounty, grant, hackathon, or campaign.
* Before you confirm any action that settles funds.
